Guests visiting Mohave Bush Camp must check in at Serolo Safari Camp to meet the guides and sign the indemnity forms.
Guests will then be escourted by a Guide to Mohave Bush Camp. If guests wish to take thier vehicles to Mohave Bush Camp, they can follow the Guide in thier own vehicle. Alternatively, guests may go to Mohave on the game vehicle.
Check-out time from both camps in 10am.
Tuli Wilderness is a good destination year-round. Generally hot (daytime min 15°C max 40°C) from October to March, and cooler from April to September (daytime min 10°C max 30°C). Birding is particularly good between October and March, depending on when the rains arrive. At this time the bush is also particularly lush with wildflowers blooming. The bush thins out from March onwards and is at its driest from July to October.
The following game and more occur here: Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog, Spotted Hyaena, Brown Hyaena, Eland, Giraffe, Burchell’s Zebra, Blue Wildebeest, Kudu, Impala, Klipspringer, Bushbuck, Common Duiker, Steenbok, Black-Backed Jackal, Bat- eared Fox, Warthog, Bushpig, Small-Spotted and Large-Spotted Genet, Civet, Caracal, Porcupine, African Wildcat, Banded and Slender and Selous’ Mongoose, Rock and Yellow-Spotted Dassie, Hippo, Crocodile, Aardwolf, Aardvark, Honey Badger, Vervet Monkey, Chacma Baboon, Springhare, Scrub Hare, Lesser Bushbaby.

Tap water at Mohave Bush Camp and Serolo Safari Camp is safe to drink and is regularly tested.
Birders will be pleasantly rewarded with sightings of many of the more than 350 species occurring in Tuli Wilderness’ habitat: Meyer’s Parrot, Meve’s Starlings, Southern Black Tit, African Mourning Dove, African Scops-Owl visit are resident all year round.
Summer brings visitors like Broadbilled Roller, Eurasian Golden Oriole, Woodland Kingfisher, Southern Carmine Bee-Eater and Levalliant’s Cuckoo.
Raptors include Little Sparrowhawk and Gabar Goshawk. Be sure to look out for the resident breeding pair of Verreaux’s Eagles at Eagle Rock.
We also have a resident Pell’s Fishing Owl at Pells Pools – be sure to visit this incredible spot.

MTN (SA) reception is to be found over most of the reserve. Mascom and Orange (Botswana) signal is to be found in scattered pockets around the reserve. MTN offers 3G for data connections on smart phones.
A valid passport is required for entry into Botswana (ensure that it is still valid for at least 6 months after date of entry and there are two blank pages in it).
Please ensure that you have your vehicle papers or police clearance papers and let us know if you require any further information regarding customs and excise allowances. Vehicle entry into Botswana costs around P160.00 (payment also accepted in SA Rands).
Under the current COVID-19 regulations, a negative PCR test within 72 hours is required to enter Botswana.
Please confirm with us just before your visit which border crossing you should use (some may close due to the Limpopo river flooding in the wet season). Please contact us for further information on customs allowances and a list of countries whose nationals require visas. Border hours for Platjan are 06h00 – 18h00. Border hours for Pont Drift are 08h00 – 16h00.
DIRECTIONS TO TULI WILDERNESS
GPS co-ordinates: 22º 16’ 36.85” S, 28º 59’ 33.50 (-22.276903, 28.992639)
Tuli Wilderness is located in the Northern Tuli Game Reserve, approximately a 6 hour drive from Johannesburg and 3 hours from Polokwane. Platjan and Pont Drift are our two closest borders (approximately 30 km from either to our reception). Serolo is approximately 550km from both Johannesburg and Gaborone, with drive times of around 6 hours from both capitals. The camp is approximately 4 hour’s drive from the northern gates of the Kruger National Park.
All guests must check-in at Serolo Safari Camp, even those visiting Mohave Buch Camp.
Currently, under the COVID-19 legislations, the Pont Drift and Platjan border posts remain closed, and the alternative is the Martin’s Drift Border post.
VIA MARTINS DRIFT BORDER POST
When travelling to Martin’s Drift please ensure that you follow Google Maps to ‘GROBLERSBRUG‘ Border and don’t put in Martin’s Drift as the GPS waypoint is INCORRECT.
There is a charge of around P 152.00 per vehicle for entry into Botswana – please ensure that you have all of the necessary vehicle papers and permission letters to take your vehicle across the border. Only Botswana Pula (BWP) and credit card may be used as a means of payment at the border.
After passing through the Botswana border control, follow the road for 20km and then turn right (signboards directing to Selebi-Phikwe).
After 105km, turn right at the signboard directing to Bobonong (as you have entered Sefophe village). Follow this road for 53 km to Bobonong and take the third exit at the roundabout.
After 700m, turn right at the Tjunction. A further 650m, turn left at the signboards marked Thune Dam / Pont Drift. Follow this road straight for 65km (passing the Thune Dam wall) until you get to a T-junction where the tar road ends.
Turn left onto the gravel road.
Turn right after 8km at the signboard marked ‘Serolo Safari Camp’ and follow the track for another 2kms, turning right again at the small Serolo signboard and the camps is just a short distance down this track.
Please contact the border or Tuli Wilderness prior to travel so that we can advise the best route available at the time! We do arrange border pick-ups and drop-offs for a fee – please contact us should you require more information.
VIA PLATJAN BORDER POST
Please note that the Limpopo River crossing at Platjan is on a 3m wide causeway. If the Limpopo River is flowing over the bridge, it cannot be crossed and the alternative then (if coming from South Africa) is to drive down to Martin’s Drift which is approximately three hour’s drive from Serolo Safari Camp.
If guests are coming with a non-4×4 vehicle, entry must be via Platjan border as the Motloutse Riverbed has to be crossed if coming via Pont Drift. A 4×4 vehicle is not a necessity to reach our reception (except in very rare circumstances during the wet season), however, travel in low sedan vehicles is not recommended in the wet season (October to April) – please confirm with us before travel to check on the road conditions if travelling at this time of year.
Coming from Polokwane, arrive at the T-junction in Alldays and turn right and immediately left onto the R572 to Swartwater. Approximately 4kms outside of Alldays, turn right onto a gravel road – signposted “Platjan”.
You’ve seen the last of tarred roads now. It is approximately 35kms to Platjan border post. There is a low level bridge crossing the Limpopo River at this border post. There is a charge of around P 152.00 per vehicle for entry into Botswana – please ensure that you have all of the necessary vehicle papers and permission letters to take your vehicle across the border. Only Botswana Pula (BWP) and credit card may be used as a means of payment at the border.
After passing through the border entry, you will arrive at a T-junction, approximately 8kms from Platjan, turn right here and it is 26km to the Tuli Wilderness entrance.
On the way to us, you will cross straight over a T-junction (which is the tar road heading to Bobonong). At the Tuli Wilderness signboard on the right, turn in and follow the small road for 2kms until you reach our reception and parking area.
VIA PONT DRIFT BORDER POST
Should the Limpopo and/or Motloutse Rivers be flowing this border cannot be crossed, and the alternative then (if coming from South Africa) is to drive down to Martin’s Drift which is approximately three hour’s drive from Serolo Safari Camp. A 4×4 is needed if entering at Pont Drift, regardless of time of year.

Coming from Polokwane, arrive at the T-junction in Alldays and turn right to Pont Drift. It is 59kms to Pont Drift.
There is a charge of around P 152.00 per vehicle for entry into Botswana – please ensure that you have all of the necessary vehicle papers and permission letters to take your vehicle across the border. Only Botswana Pula (BWP) and credit card may be used as a means of payment at the border.
Once you’ve completed the border formalities in SA you’ve seen the last of tar roads. Cross the Limpopo River bed – there is neither a bridge nor a low level crossing.
Approximately 1km outside Pont Drift border post, turn left. It’s 30km to the Tuli Wilderness entrance. Travelling on this road, you will cross a veterinary fence where you’ll be required to put the soles of your shoes in an anti-pest watery solution (You are not required to pay anything at this gate). Continue on to a four-way stop and go straight – do not turn left or right.
You will cross the Motloutse River bed – there is also no bridge or low-level crossing – continue travelling and pass through the cattle-grids at Talana Farms.
2kms past the farms you’ll find the entrance to Tuli Wilderness on the left. Turn in here and follow the small road for another 2kms until you reach the Reception and Parking area.
Please contact the border or Tuli Wilderness prior to travel so that we can advise the best route available at the time should the Limpopo or Motloutse Rivers be flowing.
FROM GABORONE / MAUN
Driving from Gaborone / Maun, guests should head to Selebi-Phikwe and then on to Bobonong. Keep to the main road in Bobonong until you reach a roundabout, where you turn right. Follow this road to a T-junction where you turn right at a signboard reading “Mathathane” Continue on this road and turn left at signboards reading ‘Thune Dam” and ‘Mashatu 100km’. Follow this road passing through Molalatau en route and continuing straight past the turnings for Mathathane and Mothlabaneng. After 62km you will reach a T-junction, where you turn left onto a dirt road signed to Lentswe-le-Moriti. After about 7.5 km, you will see the Tuli Wilderness signboard on your right, turn in here and Tuli Wilderness is about 2km down the dirt track from this point.
Guests should have their own travel insurance in place.
Tuli Wilderness is officially in a low risk malaria area although cases are rare. Guests should consult their doctor for any advice and about appropriate malaria prophylaxes.
Laundry can be arranged at our camps for an additional charge.
All children are welcome at our camps under strict adult supervision. Children under the age of 2 years old will be at no charge when sharing with two adults; rates for children aged 2-12 years of age applicable as per rate sheets. If separate accommodation is required of a child, full adult rates will apply. Note that children under 12 may not participate in bush walks and children under 16 may not partake in our walking trails. If parents wish children under the age of 6 to participate in game drives, please advise us in advance as it may be necessary to arrange a vehicle for the exclusive use of the family (for which there may be an additional charge).
We can cater for special dietary requirements for full-board options when given advance notice. Please contact us to discuss this.
Drinks are available for purchase from Tuli Wilderness. An assortment of beers, ciders, wines, spirits and soft drinks are usually available. Should you have specific preferences, please notify us in advance so we can ensure stocks are available.

Tuli Wilderness, Molema Bush Camp, Redshield Estates, the Molema Communty Trust, their holding companies or any other associated company, person(s) or trust, shall not be held responsible for any injury, loss or damage to, any guest(s), or their property, caused through whatever nature, or by any acts, or any person(s). The person signing the guest registration form will be held liable for payment of all outstanding invoices should any problem with payment occur. Please note that all guests are required to complete & sign our indemnity form, prior to or on arrival at Tuli Wildernesss. None of the camps are fenced and therefore is not uncommon to find any species of animals in and about the camps. We do not permit any unaccompanied walking or driving around the reserve.
